LHU reviews proposal to launch a Psychology program with expert insights

As mental health is gaining increasing attention, LHU held an evaluation meeting on March 16, 2026 to review its proposal to launch a Psychology program. The meeting brought together several experienced experts in the field, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Tu, former Dean of the Faculty of Psychology at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Phuong Duy, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Psychological Science and Education; Dr. Mai My Hanh, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Psychology at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education; and Dr. Dao Le Hoa An, Chairman and CEO of JobWay Training and Career Development Co., Ltd.

At the meeting, the experts agreed that Psychology is rapidly evolving. It is no longer limited to individual counseling but has expanded into education, business, and community development. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Tu emphasized that mental health is becoming one of the key issues in modern society, leading to a strong demand for well-trained professionals.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Phuong Duy, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Psychological Science and Education highlighting the growing demand for human resources and the importance of the Psychology field

From a labor market perspective, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Phuong Duy noted that the demand for Psychology graduates will continue to grow significantly over the next 5 to 10 years, especially in areas such as school counseling, human resource management, training, and organizational development. He also highlighted that this field offers flexible career opportunities and aligns well with sustainable development trends.

Regarding LHU’s proposal, Dr. Mai My Hanh commented that the training program is designed to combine solid academic knowledge with practical application. It focuses on clear learning outcomes and meets career requirements. One key strength is its practice-oriented approach, helping students not only understand the knowledge but also apply it in real situations.

From a business perspective, Dr. Dao Le Hoa An stressed the growing importance of psychologists in modern workplaces, particularly in improving work performance, building organizational culture, and supporting employees’ mental well-being.

This new program not only meets social needs but also reflects the University’s strategy of providing practical, student-centered education. Dr. Nguyen Thi Nhu Quynh, Vice Rector of LHU and in charge of the program, shared that with a strong academic team, an application-oriented approach, and support from experts, LHU is gradually strengthening its ability to train high-quality human resources in this meaningful field. She also announced that the Psychology program at LHU is expected to enroll its first cohort in the 2026–2027 academic year.
