Education Accreditation

ABET - A reliable measure of educational quality

Competency-based training quality accreditation standards

ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) is an organization that accredits programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering and engineering technology. ABET was established in 1932 by four leading professional societies in the United States, including: American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and International Society of Automation (ISA). ABET also has 31 other member societies, bringing the total number to 35.

ABET's core goal is to develop educational quality accreditation standards based on practical competencies. Specifically, ABET requires outcome standards (minimum competencies achieved by graduates) in accordance with the needs of US businesses and society.

To be recognized by ABET, universities must demonstrate that they satisfy the requirements and their graduates meet the outcome standards through an objective accreditation process.

International recognition

ABET accreditation is the global gold standard for evaluating the quality of engineering and technology training programs. This certification is widely recognized and popular in developed countries such as the US, Canada, Australia, UK, Singapore, ... This is an important passport to enhance the reputation of engineering technology universities on the international stage.

Human resources' values

The ABET-accredited training programs provide students with a strong knowledge base, critical thinking, and the ability to solve complex problems, especially adapt to an international working environment. Leading tech companies such as Microsoft, IBM, Intel, Google... all prioritize recruiting engineers who graduate from ABET-accredited programs.

Benefits for learners, especially LHU students

Due to internationally recognized training programs, students have access to the most advanced knowledge and learning methods. In compliance with ABET accreditation standards in the long term, training programs will help learners comprehensively develop their qualifications and soft skills, especially project management skills to succeed in future study and work.

With the two programs accredited by ABET (Information Engineering Technology and Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology), LHU students are internationally recognized for their competencies. They have many job opportunities at leading corporations in the world, especially the U.S. In addition, studying to improve qualifications in developed countries is also easier thanks to this international recognition.

Thus, ABET is truly of great value to learners as well as universities. This is a reliable international standard.
